In June of 1993, CCM Sunday began with a simple mission: to create an on-air home for Contemporary Christian Music in the Chattanooga area and to build His kingdom. Today, there six radio stations in this area that now play His music. Mission accomplished! For that reason and others, our final broadcast was on October 29, 2017.

The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 9:10, 'Whatever the activity in which you engage, do it with all your ability, because there is no work, no planning, no learning, and no wisdom in the next world where you're going..' What that verse says to me is that whatever you do in this life, make it count. Do it with everything you have in you and make a difference! It has been my goal the last 24 years to do just that. I hope I have done just that. Thank you and goodbye.

CCM Sunday on Sunny 92.3 is Signing Off!

For just over twenty-four years CCM Sunday has been the home for the Best Christian Music in the Tennessee Valley area, but on October 29, 2017, it will sign off the air for the last time.

On June 20th, 1993, DMI Concerts (Dove Ministries, Inc) began producing CCM Sunday.  CCM Sunday was all day, every Sunday on what was then Magic 102.7 (WBDX, Chattanooga) and was hosted in those days by Roy McCollum, Bobby Daniels, James Howard, Jason McKay, Rhonda Miskowski and Matt Stockman.   ‘It was the radio arm of our concert ministry,' says Alan Knowles, President of DMI Concerts. CCM Sunday began with a simple mission: to create an on-air home for Contemporary Christian Music in the Chattanooga area and to build His kingdom.

In April of 1998, CCM Sunday moved to Sunny 92.3 (WDEF, Chattanooga) with Bobby Daniels as host. ‘Bobby quickly became part of the family here on South Broad Street,' says Danny Howard, Operations Manager for WDEF Radio. Through the years Bobby Daniels has been employed by Sunny 92.3 handling on-air and behind the scenes duties.

On Sunday morning, October 29, 2017, from 6 to 10a, CCM Sunday - with Bobby Daniels as host as he has been from the very beginning - along with former hosts, listeners the music he loves will say goodbye. ‘It’s mission accomplished,' says Bobby. ‘Today in this market,  there are at least six outlets for this style of music, and His kingdom footprint is larger now that it has ever been.’

Being a parent is challenging — but a new study suggests being a working mom is more time-consuming than we thought. A study (commissioned by Welch’s) of 2,000 women found that the average mom spent 98 hours each week working at the office and taking care of things at home. The women in the study were all parents to kids ranging in age from five to 12. According to the results, the average mom’s day starts at 6:23 AM and ends at 8:31 PM.

Good news people with broken hearts: stalking of your ex on Facebook is totally normal. A study reveals that 88 percent of those spurned loves track their exes on Facebook, and 31 percent have changed their profile picture in an attempt to make their exes jealous. Also, 74 percent of respondents said they had looked up an ex’s new flame, 70 percent said they used their friends’ Facebook accounts to look up their exes and 52 percent of people unfriended their exes following the break-up.

If you proudly drop your greasy pizza delivery box into the recycle bin after polishing off the leftovers, apparently you’re not helping Mother Earth. According to Philly.com, used pizza boxes can’t be recycled. Experts at Stanford University offer this explanation:“Pizza boxes are made from corrugated cardboard, however the cardboard becomes soiled with grease, cheese, and other foods once the pizza has been placed in the box. Once soiled, the paper cannot be recycled because the paper fibers will not be able to be separated from the oils during the pulping process. Food is a major source of contamination in the various paper categories.”

A fight went down in Oklahoma City. Police say two guys were in the living room of an apartment when they began arguing if Star Wars or Star Trek was better. The victim told police he became frustrated and stated: “You’re just a trick” before walking back to his room: The alleged attacker followed the man and shoved him to the ground while saying, “You wanna replay that?” Then he started choking the victim, who pulled out a pocket knife. The attacker left the room and police were called.

Harold Hager was born on May 17, 1917. During his life, Harold served in the Navy during World War II. Afterward, he spent the next 37 years working at Corning Glass Works. After his wife passed away in 2010, he couldn’t just sit around. So he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in western New York state. He is still at it – at 100 years old! He does everything from sorting screws to testing light fixtures there. And for the second year in a row, Harold volunteered more hours than anyone in the organization.

Remember the story of the Georgia inmates who saved the life of a deputy when he passed out? The sheriff says he plans on knocking some time off of the sentences of the six inmates who stepped in to help. When the deputy went down the six inmates were on work detail at a cemetery. They took off his bulletproof and gun belt and performed CPR — saving the deputy’s life.

A 10-year-old boy from Texas now hopes to put an end to kids dying in hot cars. Bishop Curry has so far raised almost $30,000 on GoFundMe to develop his device. Oasis will detect when a child has been left inside a hot vehicle and alert parents to the child’s situation. The device will also come with the technology to help cool down the child while he or she waits to be rescued. • LINK

A plane crashed into a car outside a church Sunday in Florida (Bartow). The pilot was taken to the hospital. Because the owner of the car was inside the church they weren’t hurt. The car, however, ended up upside down. The pastor of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church said he and his church were in the middle of worship when they heard a loud bang.

A California woman’s grandma was hospitalized for three days and wanted to see her dog. So her granddaughter wrap Patsy the dog in a blanket, put her over her shoulder, and managed to sneak her into the hospital looking like a baby. Grandma was, of course, was thrilled with the surprise. Check it out here.

Emptying trash cans and dumpsters in Bogotá, Colombia’s, Jose Alberto Gutierrez one day found a copy of the classic novel Anna Karenina, and kept it. That was 20 years ago — and the garbage man continued to collect Bogota’s discarded books, amassing thousands that he used to create a free library. Thanks to additional book donations, Gutierrez’s library has swelled to 25,000 books.

A guy from Alabama plans to mow grass in all 50 states. Rodney Smith Jr. started an organization that mows lawns for single mothers, veterans, and older Americans. He got the idea a couple of years ago when he saw an older man struggling to cut his grass. Raising Men Lawncare Service tries to start chapters in each state and encourages young men to mow 50 yards where they live. LINK

Schools are increasingly taking charge of lunchtime, encouraging parents to pack healthy choices in their kids’ lunch boxes. But a mom in Australia was shocked when she was called out for sending her child to school not with a candy bar or a can of soda, but a pack of raisins. According to a note sent home with the child, the reason the raisins were shunned by the school was their high sugar content.

It's Father's Day 2017... Father's Day is a celebration of fathers started in the United States in the early twentieth century. It can be seen as a complement to Mother's Day but the holiday is not as popular as Mother's Day. Partly because it is much younger -- it became official in 1972 while the latter in 1914. Interesting facts about Father's Day... it used to be the busiest day for collect (reverse charge) calls. Approximately 30% less is spend on Father's Day gifts than on Mother's Day gifts. AND The staff of the Empire State Building in New York sends an annual Father's Day card to the staff at the Reynolds Building in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on which the architecture of the Empire State Building was partially based.

A dad in Texas warned his 17-year-old son: Get in trouble in physics class one more time and I'll be coming to school to sit next to you. Brad Howard says his son -- also named Brad -- likes to be the life of the party. And dad Brad has been getting emails from teen Brad's teacher. So last week, when teen Brad acted up in class again, dad brad went to school. Dad Brad said his son's friends seemed to enjoy it: “I think they had a good time. Especially knowing that Bradley was put in an uncomfortable situation." The teen's sister posted evidence of the visit online.

Maurer, a 94-year-old great-grandmother from Indiana, celebrated 44 years of service at McDonald’s the other day. And she’s not retiring. Maurer gets up at 3 AM for her 5 AM shifts on Fridays and Saturdays, has worked at several locations of the chain in Evansville, Indiana, since 1973, when her husband retired due to a disability.
