Instagram announced Wednesday the photo-sharing social network has reached more than 300 million monthly users, surpassing the number of Twitter users for the first time. The company jumped from 200 million monthly users to 300 million in about nine months. Meanwhile, Twitter had about 284 million active monthly users as of the end of October.

A new report says that last year over $2 billion in U.S. lottery winnings went unclaimed. [Well, you intend to pick up that $50 million check, but one thing leads to another, and you just never seem to find the time.]

Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman, who last released a solo project in 2008, announced details via social media for four upcoming solo EPs to release in 2015. His first set of four EPs released in 2007 and 2008, based on the seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer). The new set of EPs are tentatively titled Sunlight, Shadows, Darkness and Dawn.

A woman on a paleo diet decided to save money by eating dog food. She improved her blood sugar level and increased her energy. [The only drawback was that she had to give up driving due to the irresistible urge to hang her head out the window.]

This year, Kmart is sticking with its dubious tradition and opening on Thanksgiving Day. Like last year, they’re opening at 6am, and will keep the doors open for 42 consecutive hours until midnight on Saturday. According to a press release, Kmart has opened its doors on Thanksgiving morning to Black Friday “early birds” for the last 22 years.

A man in Florida was so sick of seeing political campaign signs in the yards of his neighbors that he decided to steal as many as he possibly could. By the time he was caught, the man had stolen 244 political signs. 

A few days ago, for KING & COUNRY's You Matter Tour made a stop at Pastor Rick Warren's Saddleback Church in California. While performing "Without You," a personal and touching moment in and of itself, the group decided to take it to a new level by inviting their sister and Grammy-winning artist Rebecca St. James to sing the duet with fo KING & COUNTRY co-frontman Luke Smallbone. There's a new perfume based upon a perfume found aboard a shipwreck from 1864.... The perfume is suitable for everyone but it's being marketed to women and children first.

What would you do if you were eating your grub at Chipotle when you looked over and saw a mother changing her toddler's diaper on the table next to you? A Midwestern mom changed her child's diaper on a Chipotle table in front of a restaurant full of people. Her and her husband's reasoning? The restaurant didn't have a changing table in the bathroom.

Fans of VeggieTales have been wondering what will be in store for their favorite veggies after DreamWorks announced plans to bring the show to NetFlix this fall.  Recently, Big Idea Productions revealed the forthcoming look of the beloved characters and the reactions from fans have been more of shock and panic than support.  For diehard fans, the new look is a bit too different, with the characters' eyes now being colorful and almost "hypnotic," as some comments have called it.... others say the colors make them look as if they aren't ripe.  Now, in a video, VeggieTales co-founder Mike Nawrocki explains the changes as giving them a fresh, new modern look, given that their original look hadn't changed much in 20 years and was always based on the limitations from the early 90's technology.  To see Nawrocki's videos and for the latest news on all things Veggies, visit their Facebook page.

A new research program hopes to implant a small electrical device in humans that would monitor health then stimulate nerves to repair any damage. So instead of a prescription it's a fresh battery?  All kidding aside it does have some merit...  just not in the hand or  forehead please. 

A small but growing number of iPhone 6 Plus owners have reportedly bent their phones after carrying the devices in their pockets. In one instance, a new iPhone 6 Plus was bent during a day of dancing, dining, and driving to a wedding.

A Japanese restaurant in New York City has officially placed a ban on tipping and instead, its owners have opted to pay workers a salary with paid vacation and sick leave. Sushi Yasuda co-founder Scott Rosenberg said that customers tend to be very pleased when they realize they don't have to tip. In fact,  customers don't even have the option of leaving a tip on their receipt.

Parents in a village in England have removed around 14 children from a school after they instituted a blanket ban on packed lunches. Milefield Primary School (in Grimethorpe) says the only options open to parents now are to let them have a school lunch or to go home. 

A driver in England (Lincolnshire) has racked up almost $23,000 in parking fines after ignoring more than 140 tickets. David Lee's bill is one of the highest ever recorded in the UK, and grew so large after he repeatedly broke the rules, often by parking in disabled spaces.

I found a very interesting site this week worldometers.info...  it basically tracks, well everything.  births, deaths, cars produced, money spent, cellphones sold, blogs written and more...  it somehow keeps track and totals them all up for you... if it's right then it's absolutely fascinating... for instance when I looked at it - which was at 8:30 Monday AM... there had already been over 1 billion google searches...

The 40-hour workweek is a distant memory. A new survey found 88% of us work more than 40 hours a week. 7 out of 10 take work home at least once a week. Over half  of us would spend more time with family or exercise if we could reclaim an extra 60 minutes a day. Then again, Americans spend 5 hours a day watching TV would we really spend extra time exercising?

How many friends do you have? According to a feature in New York magazine, how popular you are may very well depend on your age. And the magic one seems to be 29. The company that conducted the study explains that at 29, people are still in touch with school friends but have also forged new bonds with work colleagues.

An eight-year-old boy named Dylan Spoering from Minneapolis put up a sign on his front lawn to invite the public to his free piano concert back in July.... His neighbor and fellow musician Tommy Rehbein saw the sign and posted it on Facebook to help promote the event adding the comment "Wouldn't it be cool if a bunch of people showed up for his free concert?" Well they did... much to the shock of little Dylan... the pic and comment bounced around Facebook and hundreds showed up for the concert - in the rain.

Well, new research is showing that getting enough sleep may also slow down the aging process and keep your body younger for longer. Researchers (at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore) have found that when older adults sleep less, their brains actually age faster.
